Medication administration in South Dakota may be delegated only to those individuals who have successfully completed a training program approved by the South Dakota Board of Nursing. The minimum course length requirement is 20 hours to include 16 hours of coursework and 4 hours of lab instruction. Performance evaluation must include knowledge assessments, skills assessments conducted one-on-one with a nurse, and certificates of completion. EduCare is an approved provider of medication training.
EduCare’s medication training provides a unique learning experience. The core training courses are facilitated online by a Registered Nurse and include suggested reading, learning games, three tests, and one final exam. Students will receive communication and interaction opportunities with the EduCare nurse as well as engage in discussions with their own nurse who will verify knowledge and competency in the skills lab. All documentation tools are provided for you.
